1- The bathroom is a good place for fungus to grow, this possibility should be kept completely clean and if necessary, use anti-fungal materials. Usually, proper ventilation of the bathroom can be enough to prevent the growth of fungi. Shower curtains, bathroom tiles, under the sink and behind the toilet are usually places where fungi grow.
2- Wet basements are a suitable environment for the growth of fungi. Often, using a dehumidifier is enough to prevent their growth. It is better to repair the place that causes water leakage in the basement when it rains, because the constantly humid conditions cause the growth of fungi.
3- Humidifiers, vaporizers (including devices that produce cold steam), and coolers are the main sources of fungus growth. If you use a steam generator in your room, you should change its water daily and clean its floor regularly.
4- Old pillows (especially sponge pillows) and old mattresses can be the place of mushroom growth. Because the moisture from the sweat of the body penetrates into the pillow and creates suitable conditions for the growth of fungus. The pillow should be changed at least once every one or two years.
5- Dry flowers and plant residues are often the place of mushroom growth. Dry flowers and foliage of plants should not be kept in pots. Fungus may also grow in the soil. It is better to change the soil in the pots outside the house to prevent spores from spreading inside the house. Plants and dry flowers should be removed from the bedroom.
6- Suitable environments for mushroom growth outside the house include: leaves, plant fertilizer, and nutrients needed by plants and soil. A lawnmower, which disperses fungal spores in the air, can also cause symptoms. The growth of fungi depends on air, proper heat and humidity.
7- Some patients with asthma have reported that foods containing parasitic fungi, such as alcoholic beverages (beer and wine), aged cheese, and vinegar, have caused acute asthma symptoms.
