Today, allergy to cockroaches is one of the most common allergic diseases in children and adults in Iran and the world.
Cockroaches have a lifespan of about 300 million years in nature. They mostly live in warm tropical areas, but different types of them can be found in homes and places where people live. Cockroach excrement proteins can cause asthma symptoms, especially in children. To reduce asthma symptoms, cockroaches should be removed from your residence.
The most important areas where cockroaches can enter the house are: toilets, cracks in the walls, windows, cracks in the floor or entrance doors.
Bathroom cockroaches need water to survive and live in wet places, so try to fix leaking pipes and faucets.
Cockroaches are less common in clean homes.
Therefore, try to store the rest of your food in complete packages. Wash dishes immediately after eating and always keep kitchen surfaces and floors clean and dry.
Be sure to wash your pet’s food bowl thoroughly after eating, clean the floor with a vacuum cleaner and disinfectants, and always use a trash can and a special bag for it in the kitchen.
Allergy to excreta and secretions caused by these insects is relatively high among people who spend more time at home or in covered places.
One of the important characteristics of cockroaches, which makes them important in causing allergic diseases in humans, is the resistance and adaptability of these insects in different places and environments. In many parts of the world, cockroaches are considered as one of the important factors in causing or aggravating asthma in children.
All kinds of American and German cockroaches that usually reproduce and nest inside houses are considered to be one of the most important factors in causing allergies and asthma at home, especially in children. Saliva, feces and other body parts of cockroaches that spread in the house are allergenic and can cause various skin or respiratory problems for people. For this reason, it is recommended to prevent the entry or reproduction of cockroaches in the house in any way.
The best way to get rid of cockroaches is spraying. Even the cockroaches that hide in their shelters, come out of their shelters to get fresh air a few days after spraying, and they are exposed to the poison and die.  
It is better that people avoid any direct contact with the body of cockroaches. Remove the dead body of this insect with a nylon, tie the nylon and throw it in the trash.

Important recommendations in controlling and eradicating cockroaches at home

  1. The lids of all trash cans or containers containing leftover food should be tightly closed.
  2. Food should be kept in airtight containers.
  3. Do not store used food containers in the sink or kitchen for a long time.
  4. During the night, these food containers attract cockroaches. 
  5. Clean food residues from various surfaces such as dining table, cabinets or kitchen floor and clean these surfaces regularly with a vacuum cleaner.
    Keep pet food in closed containers.
  6. Prevent the leakage of water and moisture from the water pipes and sewers under the sink or in the basement and repair the water and sewage pipes as soon as possible. Humidity and heat are favorable conditions for the growth and reproduction of cockroaches. 
  7. Completely block the holes and seams between the walls or the floor of the house.
  8. Spraying poisons and using special traps for cockroaches are effective methods in eradicating cockroaches.

Therefore, as stated, direct contact with the cockroach or parts and secretions of its body should be avoided as much as possible. It is better not to destroy cockroaches indoors by physical means because this action causes them to disperse. Their body secretions to the surrounding environment and cause more allergies.
